Professor Dong Xinzhou, Professor Kang Chongqing, Department of Electrical Engineering and Alumni Huang Zhenyu, Wang Zhen Were Elected 2017 IEEE Fellow
Recently, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced a list of the new election of 2017 annual membership (IEEE Fellow). A total of 299 people were honored, including Dong Xinzhou and Kang Chongqing, professors of the Department of Electrical Engineering. It is reported that only three people in China's electrical engineering field was selected. Huang Zhenyu and Wang Zhen, as alumni of the Department of Electrical Engineering ,were selected at the same time ,currently respectively working in the United States, Canada.
Dong Xinzhou, has respectively received bachelor, master, doctorate in 1983, 1991, 1996 in Xi'an Jiaotong University. He was awarded Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University since he postdoctoral outbounded from Tianjin University in 1999. He is now Professor of Electrical Engineering of Tsinghua University. The research direction is power system fault analysis, relay protection, fault traveling wave theory, traveling wave protection, traveling wave ranging, wavelet transformation application, no channel protection, system protection for power grid security and intelligent substation integrated protection. He was selected for contributions to traveling wave-based transmission line protection and fault location.
Kang Chongqing, admitted to Tsinghua University in 1988, received a double bachelor's degree (electrical engineering, environmental engineering) in 1993 and a doctorate in 1997. After graduating from school to teach, now he is Professor of Department of electrical engineering in Tsinghua University. The main research directions are the power system planning, power system optimization, low-carbon power technology, renewable energy, load forecasting and electricity market. He was elected for contributions to power system operation and planning in uncertain environments.
Huang Zhenyu (Zhenyu Huang), received a bachelor's degree of Science and Technology Department of Electronic Engineering in Huazhong in 1994 and a doctorate of Department of Electronic Engineering in Tsinghua University in 1999. He is a senior research engineer at the Energy and Environment Agency of the North American Pacific National Laboratory. Research areas include high performance computing, vector technology and power system stability and simulation. He was selected for contributions to dynamic analysis and high performance computing in power systems.
Wang Zhen, received a bachelor's degree in Department of Electrical Engineering in Tsinghua University in 1996 and a master's and doctorate degree in Department of Electrical Engineering in Connecticut State University in 2000 and 2002. In August 2004, he taught at the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering, in University of British Columbia, Canada. Research direction is statistical signal processing theory and applications (multimedia security, wireless communications and biomedical issues). He was selected for contributing to statistical signal processing for multimedia security and brain data analysis.
